Robin spent all afternoon photographing some new ceramics fresh out of the kiln for me. It’s striking to see what interests him about a piece as a photographer / jeweller, and what I see – usually the imperfections of a glaze, or a luscious ‘accident’. I opted for the invisible horizon for most of the shots but he took some lovely ones of rings with busier backgrounds. I’m delivering a number of bowls, dishes and rings to the shop at Hoxton Arches in London tomorrow. The Fragility show held by Prism group of textile artists, is on from 29 May to 9 June 2019. The felt ‘box’ to house the tea bowls is recycled from a moth-eaten army rug – a nod to Prism as a textile exhibiting group / traditional Japanese chawan storage boxes / re-use and reduce plastic.
