Picasso and Paper

Last Wednesday I was on a mission with a number of art shows to see. First stop was the Royal Academy to see Picasso and Paper. I’ve always admired his economy of line, seemingly simple expressions on paper or ceramic which define the essence of a dove or bullfighter. This was a huge show with drawings and prints ranging his entire working life. The inclusion of his sketchbooks was interesting for me too. Above were my favourites – Cut out funky fish collage, pen and ink musketeers, and a simple coloured portrait. I made a reminder in my sketchbook to draw every day, regardless, just draw.

Royal Academy Picasso and Paper until April 2020.
