Porcelain fish

Fish have featured in my artwork for forty years now. Maybe it is their elegance in continual movement, that they inhabit another world, or perhaps there is such an enormous variety of species. For me, they are a reliable source of inspiration. These examples are part of the Ghost Fishing series – the term used for discarded fishing gear which tangles and kills marine creatures the world over. Hand-made nylon line is braided with sea twine which I’ve collected from local beaches. A brass or reclaimed copper hook attaches the hand-made porcelain fish. A starting point for a conversation.
